Our prestigious Food and Drink Awards return this October, and we want your nominations to help find out who is the cream of the crop.
The biggest night in the North West’s culinary calendar, the Lancashire Life & Lake District Life Food and Drink Awards, is back – and this year it looks like being a great night that will set the taste-buds tingling.
We are delighted to announce that it is being staged at a new venue, Ribby Hall Village, holder of two AA Rosettes for its Orangery restaurant in Wrea Green, near Preston. The black tie occasion is a night of drama and fun as we welcome the cream of the food and drink industry. A host of nominees will be hoping to be rewarded with one of Lancashire Life’s prestigious accolades for their flair and hard work in the area’s kitchens and dining rooms. The evening will also raise funds for Hospitality Action, which supports people from the industry who have fallen on hard times.
Nominations for awards are now open until June 29th, so make sure that you have your say on who you think are the shining stars of Lancashire’s food and drink industry, including local producers and suppliers, chefs, restaurants, pubs and hoteliers.
All nominations are put forward to our panel of independent judges – Trevor Stone, who headed the AstraZeneca catering operation, dedicated chef and lecturer Nick Hatch and Lancashire Life’s food and drink writer, Emma Mayoh, with editor Roger Borrell as chairman. They spend hours sifting through nominations, visiting establishments anonymously and then agree a shortlist for each category.
The winners are revealed during an exciting ceremony, held this year in Ribby Hall’s Woodland Suite.
‘We are delighted to have been asked to host this year’s Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards. Chris Parsons, our head banqueting chef, has been working alongside our various brigades throughout The Village to plan a fantastic and all-new menu,’ said Paul Green, senior manager of food and beverage at Ribby Hall.
‘Without giving too much away in advance of the awards, this year we promise to bring something different to the table in terms of the quality Lancashire produce we use – providing not only a menu that will suit such a prestigious event; it will naturally cater to all tastes and dietaries.’
New for this year is the introduction of the ‘Restaurant with Rooms’ category, brought into the running as there has been such a rise in great pubs and inns offering accommodation. This is open to any establishment with 12 or less bedrooms. The ‘Family Dining’ award and ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award have also now been opened to a reader vote.
Lancashire Life editor, Roger Borrell, said: ‘Over the last two decades, the Lancashire Life Food & Drink Awards have become the foremost event in the culinary calendar. It’s a night of anticipation, drama and, above all, great fun. But there is also a serious side – recognising the outstanding food and drink on offer in Lancashire and the Lake District.’
