Time for you to help us find the Lancashire Life 2017 Food and Drink Award winners
It’s a night when we gather the great and good of the north west hospitality industry. The Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards ceremony is one of the most prestigious occasions in the culinary calendar and we want you to nominate your favourites from Lancashire and the Lake District.
These awards will be an extra special occasion for us as this year will mark their 21st anniversary. Once again, the venue is the Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa, Blackburn, for an evening of convivial drinks and dining excellence.
The elegant black tie presentation night - this year on Monday, October 16th - celebrates the expertise of everyone connected with the food industry in our region. But our judges need your help so they can start the process of preparing a shortlist for each of our categories.
Last year’s awards ceremony was a dazzling occasion, which saw Nutters in Rochdale take the title of Restaurant of the Year and Hipping Hall in Cowan Bridge clinched Hotel Restaurant of the Year. But with so many quality contenders in the running, the choice is a difficult one for the judges every year.
That’s why we need the inside knowledge of readers who can tell us which establishments they think deserve an accolade.
We have a special website where you can send us your suggestions with category headings and details of what the judges will be looking for.
The judging panel, chaired by Lancashire Life Editor Roger Borrell, draws up a shortlist based on readers’ nominations as well as their own knowledge and expertise. They then visit each establishment incognito before contenders are revealed in a future issue.
Roger said: ‘This has become the landmark event in Lancashire’s culinary calendar – a night packed with excitement and drama when we recognise the very best in the hospitality industry across Lancashire and the Lake District.’
Sue Howarth, sales and marketing director at sponsors Total Foodservice, a fifth generation family business supplying chefs and caterers with everything from artisan breads and cakes to speciality ingredients and chef’s larder staples to clean up essentials, added: ‘We’re proud to be supporting the Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards for the third year. Each year the standards of entrants exceed the last. ‘We’re extremely proud of our county’s talent in the food and drink industry.’
