Breast Cancer Campaign was established in 1988 with the aim of researching the cure for breast cancer. The Charity aims to be the leading specialist in breast cancer research across the UK and the Republic of Ireland, making a significant impact on breast cancer for the benefit of patients.
Campaign’s mission is to beat breast cancer by funding innovative world-class research to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.
Friendship Walks are Breast Cancer Campaign’s national walking events. Campaign is encouraging everyone, regardless of age, fitness or ability to step up and join in a Friendship Walk this year and support the one woman in nine diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK. Friendship Walks are a great way to have fun and get active with friends, family, colleagues and your local community. Best of all, every step you take will help raise vital funds for breast cancer research.
It couldn’t be simpler to get involved. We have a walk in your local area and we’d love you to join in.
Celebrate Halloween in 2008 with our Friendship Walk. A great fancy dress walk for all the family in Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our event will entertain you and test your nerve as you take part in a walk with a scary twist.
If you can’t attend this walk but would like to support Campaign, why not organise a Friendship Walk of your own? Walk Champs play a crucial role in spreading awareness and support for Breast Cancer Campaign by hosting walks in their local area. The more walks we have, the more people can take part and support Campaign.
All Walk Champs receive a walk organiser’s pack designed to help with every stage of the event. In addition to this pack we have a range of resources available online at www.friendshipwalks.co.uk Friendship Walks day is Sunday 11 May 2008 so perhaps you could organise your event then or at any other time of the year. To make your walk official please contact Breast Cancer Campaign’s Events team for your registration pack.
For further information about the walk or to register as a Walk Champ please contact:

Walking also has great health benefits. By maintaining a healthy bodyweight through sensible eating and regular exercise you will be helping to reduce your risk of developing several types of cancer and many other diseases.
Make 2008 the year you step up to beat breast cancer.
Actress, Laurie Brett is a Walking Ambassador for Campaign:
‘My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1997 and, like many women now, has thankfully survived. The support of fundraisers taking part in events like Friendship Walks allows Breast Cancer Campaign to continue funding research into this disease to ensure that one day, a diagnosis of breast cancer is always a survivable one.’
