Afternoon tea has grown in popularity as a summer pastime, here are a selection of some of the best on offer across the North West.

Just 10 minutes from Junction 37 off the M6 and you will arrive at this quintessential Tea Room nestled at the foot of the impressive Howgill Fells.

The Alice in Wonderland theme seems to fit just nicely with the many lovely things on the menu but it is the Afternoon Tea that is the real piece de resistance. Loose teas are presented in little glass bottles to sniff before deciding on your blend, will it be the deliciously different Rose Bud or Mad Hatters tea?

The food is equally tempting, will it be the Classic or Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea with open sandwiches, homemade cakes, heart shaped pavlova and more, all served on vintage tea stands with proper teacups!
