When you visit La Locanda, a true taste of Italy is guaranteed, thanks to the owners, Maurizio and Cinzia Bocchi, a husband and wife team who hail from Lake Maggiore, in northern Italy. Both play a hands-on role in the restaurant, with Maurizio heading the kitchen team and Cinzia managing the front of house operations, assisted by a team of mainly Italian staff.

La Locanda has long been renowned for its authentic Italian cuisine, using only the best-quality local and Italian produce, while its location amidst the beautiful Ribble Valley landscape enhances the complete dining experience.

La Locanda is a worthy recipient of a multitude of awards, although Maurizio and Cinzia are most proud of its recognition as one of the world’s best Italian restaurants, receiving the Ospitalità Italiana certification each year since 2010.

The certificate recognises Italian restaurants that preserve the authenticity, history, culture and quality of Italian cuisine. Of the thousands of Italian restaurants in the UK, only 90 received the award in 2016, with La Locanda being one of just 29 located outside London.

Their other accolades include receiving a Bronze Medal in the Visit England Awards 2016, recognising their commitment to local produce, as well as winning the Lancashire Tourism Awards’ Taste Lancashire Award, back-to-back, in 2015 and 2016. Add to these the Ribble Valley Business Awards’ Food Award 2016, the English Italian Awards’ Best Restaurant Under 50 Seats 2015 and the PAPA Industry Awards’ Best Independent Italian Restaurant 2015, to name but a few.

La Locanda is open 7 days a week:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 18:00 – 22:00 – Thursday, Friday, Saturday: 12:00 – 14:30 17:00 – 22:00 – Sunday: 12:00 – 22:00.

Available on any day, you can choose any combination of dishes from the seasonal à la carte menu, which features the multitude of courses you come to expect with Italian dining. There’s also an ‘Eat Like an Italian’ dining experience where you enjoy 8 or 12 delicious courses, including a full explanation of the dishes and how the menu sequence works from Cinzia (Please Note: an absolute minimum of four hours is required for this). Cinzia can also help you to select the most appropriate wines to accompany each dish, if you choose, with many of the top quality, all Italian wines being available by the glass too.

Throughout the week (Monday to Thursday, from 6pm) you can enjoy the Italian casual dining experience, Apperitivo Rinforzato. This consists of a glass of wine or a cocktail (non-alcoholic versions available) with lots of nibbles and finger food to share with the others, for a set price. It’s a great way to explore the authentic Italian dishes and relax after a long, hard day at work.

The restaurant also features a comprehensive menu of Artisan Italian beers and a generous selection of some of Italy’s most prestigious wines, which use mainly indigenous grapes.

Where to Find Us:

La Locanda is easy to find, situated on the main A59, approximately 25 miles from Preston and 11 miles from Skipton.
