Show goes on without the mayor

Guests had a fabulous time at the Mayor of Ribble Valley’s Ball held at Mitton Fold Hotel, Whalley.

Unfortunately the one person missing was the mayor, Joyce Holgate, unable to attend after breaking her leg the day before. Her daughter and mayoress, Debra Holgate, took charge to ensure the evening went smoothly.

Just under £3,000 was raised for three charities: The Royal British Legion, Carers Link (Young Carers) and Ribble Valley Heart Fund.

Joyce said: ‘Everyone said that it was a brilliant night and they all enjoyed themselves. They want me to organise a spring ball so I can actually attend that one!’
