The first ever National GetOutside Day takes place on Sunday 30 September with the aim of getting 1 million people active outdoors across the UK.

National GetOutside Day, organised by Ordnance Survey, falls within ukactive’s European Week of Sport. It sees a huge range of events taking place across the country in a bid to improve the health of the nation by getting more people, more active, more often.

Nick Giles, Managing Director of Ordnance Survey Leisure said: “National GetOutside Day is a great way to raise the profile of physical activity in the outdoors and the role it plays in tackling inactivity across the nation. By helping more people to get outside on Sunday 30 September, this could be just the catalyst that’s needed to get the nation back on track helping us all to live longer, stay younger and enjoy life more.”

There are hundreds of guides available, ranging from planning a walk, to camping and free family adventures, to help you get started outdoors. Alternatively, you can join one of the Ordnance Survey GetOutside Champions who are also staging activities nationwide...

You can get involved online by joining in the conversation using #GetOutsideDay across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For the latest updates on National GetOutside Day, follow @OSleisure on Twitter.
