Ribblesdale Park is an exclusive holiday home village on the Grade I listed Gisburne Park Estate, a rolling 1000 acre private Estate in an Area of Outstanding National Beauty on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.

What do you do when you inherit a sprawling estate in the Ribble Valley?

On option is sell it and move to the British Virgin Islands. Another option is to lord it up and live there like it’s the Edwardian times. An unlikely option is to convert part of it into a thriving holiday park which is exactly what owner Guy Hindley did 10 years ago.

In early 2003 his father Christopher died after a long battle with cancer. A month later a planning application was approved for a caravan park. Guy quickly seized the opportunity and started to create his vision of a boutique lodge park with hot tubs and concierge service, and so Ribblesdale Park was born

“the lodge park is nestled on the historic Gisburne Park Estate, 1000 acres of peace and quiet in an area of outstanding national beauty. Therefore I had no choice but to build a lodge park that complimented the spectacular surroundings.”

10 years on and what exists today is exactly as visioned in 2003. Ribblesdale Park is extremely civilized. Your driveway is raked everyday. Your garden is nurtured for you so you don’t have to lift a finger. The restaurant can deliver breakfast in bed, pizzas and champagne to your hot tub and afternoon tea to your deck. But more importantly your lodge or slice of history has views to the Yorkshire Dales and Pendle Hill and is comtemporary, over 1000 sq ft and fitted with all the mod cons you would expect in the smartest of new builds.

“We sell lodges to people who want to retire here and to people who want to relax here at weekends. We have built a very peaceful and happy community at Ribblesdale and look forward to continuing to grow that environment through 2014. We have a host of events on the Estate that the residents can participate in. The lodges start around £100,000 for a second hand lodge and up to £200,000 for a brand new bespoke built lodge. They are stunning inside. Warm, cheap to run and beautiful. Our gourmet café has also proved to be a huge hit with the residents and locals and we are thoroughly enjoying perfecting this as we learn what people like and dislike”

Thinking of downsizing then you would be foolish not to consider living on a private country estate and take a visit to Ribblesdale Park. The countryside is magical, the park is spotless, the food is delicious and the atmosphere cheery.
