Miratis, a new website that promotes British based Designer-Makers

Britain boasts a strong culture of craftsmanship. We have some exceptionally talented artisans keeping our traditional skills alive, but one of the challenges that these makers face is getting their products to market. So Miratis, a new website that promotes British based Designer-Makers, ensuring they receive the lions share of profit, is a must for those of you who wish to support British craftsmanship and who love handcrafted pieces but maybe lack the time to source them.

Living close to Kings Road in Chelsea, website founder, Lisa Harrison, often struggled to find outlets selling special, handmade pieces. As a time-pressed professional, she felt that the market was perhaps failing our Designer-Makers and believed that the time was right to create a high-end online boutique to promote the work of many of the most talented. With the conviction of her belief that there would be a demand for handcrafted pieces of exceptional quality, Lisa moved on from her corporate life, moved to Richmond-Upon-Thames and began the journey of setting up Miratis

The online shop brings together Designer-Makers from across Britain. The site features potters such as the Cotswolds based Emma Clegg and Janet Stahelin Edmondson with their gorgeous ceramics (priced from 19 to 240). The Kent based glass blower Lucy Alexandra Batt showcases her intricate patterned glassware, whilst London based Sam Sweet offers a witty take on the humble milk bottle at 110. Jenna McDonald, working from her Perth studio in that most common of metals, aluminum, creates beautiful and useable home-wares in vibrant colours.

Offering a collection that is carefully selected by Lisa to both inspire and delight, the website brings together the work of skilled artisans to consumers in search of special handmade pieces. Miratiss evolving collecting ranges from beautiful handcrafted home-ware to fashion pieces. Those who love contemporary design will be drawn to Miriam Hanids silver chased napkin rings or Geraldine Larkins cushions in which she uses sumptuous fabrics and gorgeous designs. Chris Inders Heritage vase in porcelain offers a twist to a traditional vase, and for a glamorous wedding gift, Sian Matthews Organic Silver Bowl is simply just perfect. For fashionistas Uma Turans floppy hats are perfect for those summer weddings (priced around 120).

As a specialist online boutique, Miratis provides a delightful high-end consumer experience. It is beautifully designed and easy to navigate via product, price, material or designer. Many pieces are immediately available, whilst some are made to order with delivery times from a few days to three weeks. There is a commissioning service for those who would like something unique and special. Information is provided about each designer so the customer can understand the providence of the pieces. And once an order is placed, it arrives at your doorstep, beautifully packaged in the Miratis bespoke packaging.
