Puppy love is always in the air at Cheshire Dogs’ Home, not just on Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air, and perhaps it’s time to honour another kind of love – the incredible bond that many people enjoy with their companion animals.

At Cheshire Dogs’ Home near Grappenhall, good homes are always needed for their residents.

Home Manager Anna Stansfield explains: ‘Every day we see proof of the enduring love between people and dogs, with feedback about our dogs having settled with loving new owners. Although aspects of our work are necessarily tough, we get to hear lots of happy endings.’

Enduring love can also be between dogs. Two of the Dogs’ Home’s current residents, Ruby and Ellie (pictured), have an inseparable bond after being kennelled together at the Home and need re-homing together. As Ruby is almost blind, they need to be the only dogs in a fairly quiet house.

Anyone interested in meeting Ruby and Ellie with a view to fostering or adoption should call the Dogs’ Home on 0844 504 1212.

About Cheshire Dogs’ Home

Cheshire Dogs’ Home is a state-of-the-art kennels with under-floor heating, furnished ‘respite kennels’, an off-road woodland walk and the UK’s first dedicated mother-and-pup unit.

An incredible 94% of all the dogs that come through its doors are eventually re-homed.

Alongside the staff, over 100 volunteers help out at the Home, including a small army of dog walkers who help keep the residents fit and healthy.

In September 2014, dozens of dogs were lost in the devastating criminal fire at sister site Manchester Dogs’ Home; many survivors were brought straight to Cheshire Dogs’ Home and were subsequently adopted from the Cheshire side.
