We’re searching for the items which tell the county’s story as we prepare to mark Lancashire Life’s 70th anniversary.

Lancashire Life will turn 70 next year and to mark the anniversary we are working on an ambitious project to tell a history of Lancashire in 70 objects.

We are working with museums, galleries and heritage centres across the county to find objects which reveal our county’s rich and varied past. The final list will be revealed in Lancashire Life next year.

Visitors to museums, stately homes, local heritage centres, and any other public attraction across the old county palatine of Lancashire can help select which items from their collections are suggested for the list.

But there’s not long to get your nomination in – we want to complete the long list by the end of this month.

Lancashire Life deputy editor Paul Mackenzie said: ‘We want this to be a history of Lancashire told through objects selected by people in Lancashire. It will be fascinating to see what items are selected and to see what they say about our past and our ancestors.’

The project is being run jointly by Lancashire Life, the county Museums Service and Museums Development North West and has been given a grant of £55,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund. w
