Talented young chefs from across the county and beyond battled it out for the chance to take the 2015 North West Young Chef title.

Carden Park chef de partie, Leo Deglane, Manchester’s Abode Hotel apprentice chef Rachel Prendergast, The Tavern in Mold’s pastry chef Louise Williams and The Art School in Liverpool’s chef de partie Daniel Heffy were some of the local competitors who wowed the judges with their culinary skills.

But it was Cumbrian chef Arthur Quin, chef de partie at The Punch Bowl Inn at Crosthwaite, who took the top prize and will now represent the North at the 2015 Young National Chef of the Year Competition.

The Essential Cuisine competition invites young chefs under the age of 23 from Lancashire, Cheshire, Cumbria and Flintshire to compete against each other in a two and a half hour cook off to produce a three course meal for two people featuring local and seasonal produce.
