TV presenter Lucy Meacock is serving up the awards at the Cheshire Life and Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards 2011

Food fan Lucy Meacock has thrown her support behind this years Cheshire Life and Lancashire Life Food & Drink Awards.

The Granada TV news presenter said: This is a hugely exciting night. What I love about it is that were celebrating local talent in a very important industry which employs vast numbers of hard-working people.

Lucy, who will be our compere at the awards on October 25, added: Were also encouraging the use of high quality, locally produced food and drink.

We are so spoilt in the North West because the standard of restaurants and pubs is second to none. But its more than that. We also have leading food and drink producers and retailers.

Lucy also spoke of her passion for top quality cooking. I love going out for a good meal and I am constantly surprised by the outstanding quality of what is on offer, she said. We have some real gems. It is a hugely competitive business and one where people have to work around the
clock to keep ahead of the opposition.

In the current climate it is so important we support our local businesses when we can - and recommend them to others.
