It's a tough task for anyone to showcase their talents for an audience of their peers, but it's nothing new for Chris Parsons. He is the head banqueting chef at Ribby Hall and for the second year running he will be responsible for creating the menu that will be enjoyed by some of the
biggest names in Lancashire's hospitality industry.

The annual Lancashire Life Food and Drink Awards reward the shining stars of the region's dining establishments for their hard work, dedication and exceptional food and drink. The awards will be presented at a glittering ceremony at Ribby Hall Village, near Wrea Green, on October 14th.

Chris grew up in Blackpool and trained at the Imperial Hotel before working at Chelsea Football Club and the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. After a spell in France he moved to Ribby Hall in 2006 and has been head chef there for nine years. He and his team are now busy preparing the menu for the night of the awards ceremony while our judges have been hard at work visiting the best cafes, hotels, restaurants and pubs across Lancashire and the Lake District.

On their secret visits they have been assessing not only the quality of the food and drink on offer but also the standard of service and the amenities - everything that goes into making a meal out memorable for the right reasons. But it's not all down to our judges - we want you to have your say as well and help decide who should win our Outstanding Customer Service award, which is sponsored by leading North West estate agent Regan and Hallworth.

We have selected three venues we believe deserve to be on the shortlist - places that impressed our judges with the warmth of the welcome , the quality of the service and the friendliness and knowledge of the staff.

Now it's over to you to vote for the one you believe gives the warmest welcome and provides the best experience for guests. See the panel on the right for details of who's on the shortlist and then go online to foodawards.lancashirelife.co.uk to cast your vote.

And you can be there on the night to see who wins the award. For tickets and more information, visit foodawards.lancashirelife.co.uk or email kate.wilson@archant.co.uk.
