Oliver Steer, one of the country's leading interior designers, provides specialist and professional design by drawing on his expertise in architecture, interior design, build and project coordination, culminating in the very highest standard in architectural and interior design. His projects have ranged from stately homes to town houses, all of which have appreciated in value as a consequence.

Oliver's background has given him an excellent understanding of how to produce detailed interior design. He graduated from Liverpool University with a BA Honours degree in Architecture with combined studies in project management and was immediately invited to work as senior designer for one of the country's leading practices.

After exploring the intricate detailing of architecture and working on multi million pound interior new builds and refurbishments both in the UK and abroad, Oliver decided to establish his own design practice in 2005. This was a culmination of his passions and aspirations. His inauguration into the highly respected British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) in 2008 reaffirmed Oliver as a expert in his field; demonstrating excellent interior design and professional business acumen.

As the only full member in Merseyside and Lancashire, Oliver is proud to have achieved this accreditation, a qualification held by only 279 of the world's leading interior designers.

While Oliver's personal style is that of beautifully detailed, traditional interiors with contemporary undertones, he also embraces contemporary interior design with equal vigour as demonstrated in some of his more recent commissions.

He said: 'To embark on either a traditional or contemporary project is always highly rewarding. Each project is a reflection of my client's own tastes together with my influence and understanding in order to achieve the perfect result; one that will be admired for years to come.'

Oliver also uses his skill at spatial design and understanding current technologies to help his clients understand and visualise all aspects of interiors from floor plans, electrical layouts, bathroom and kitchen design through to soft furnishings and finishing touches.

He added: 'My staff and I work exceptionally hard for and on behalf of our clients. When embarking on a significant project involving many layers of design and detailing, it is important to divert the heartache and stress away from your client and liaise with all parties involved so as to ensure smooth transition from stage to stage.'

Oliver's company embodies all aspects of a professional interior design business. By avoiding unquoted hourly rates and vague pricing, all of his projects are carried out with total clarity and discretion.

'I adhere to strict rules set down by the British Institute of Interior Design to protect my clients and also suppliers. It is often the case that anyone can call themselves an interior designer however to be a professional, in the same way that architects and engineers are required to have certain qualifications to practice. Interior designers should be recognised for their qualifications, design background, portfolio and of course the necessary insurances such as public liability and professional indemnity.'

In March 2010, Oliver acquired the design firm 'Interior Choice' in Nantwich and has since amalgamated this into his own recognised brand with a substantial refurbishment. He also decided to implement a redecoration programme at his Southport premises in order to create an extended design suite and boardroom, providing a unique and private experience for his clients when discussing the details of their project while also exhibiting his design ideas and skills.

'It is important as designers to welcome current trends however not to forget the all important 'staple diets' that are essential in all good design projects. I want my clients to realise this is an investment in their home and a well designed interior will add both financial and emotional value to any property.'
