The Pool of the Year accolade was bestowed on the Residential Indoor Pool Over £175,000 - a beautifully modern pool, in keeping with a medieval architectural theme, the mix of which makes the pool visually stunning.

Portrait Pools, Southport and The Majik House, Kirkby Lonsdale completed a double success for the region by winning top prizes at their industry awards

It was a glittering night for Portrait Pools at the Swimming Pool and Allied Trades Association (SPATA) Awards.

The Southport based firm picked up four gold, one silver and three bronze awards across a range of categories including the Pool of the Year award and winning the National Pool Contractor of the Year for the third time.

The design that won the Pool of the Year Award in the Residential Indoor Pool over 175,000 category had a medieval theme but with all the latest modern features.

Portrait Pools Director Andrew Rutherford said: It is always very rewarding to be recognised by fellow industry professionals and satisfied clients. This is the third time we have held the two top awards since 2008. Its a tremendous achievement for everyone involved. The whole team should be rightly proud.

The Majik House, based at the Kirkby Lonsdale Business Park, Kirkby Lonsdale, collected the 2012 UK Best Cinema Installation at the Control4 EMEA Dealer-Distributor Awards held at the end of January at the Integrated System Europe Exhibition in Amsterdam.

The prize was for a home cinema project The Majik House completed for a client's home in the Trough of Bowland in Autumn 2012.

The Majik House undertook the complete project management role, overseeing everything from preparation works through to final decorations. Once the cellar had been completely stripped and sealed, the team from The Majik House were able to make sense of the space, undertaking a complete future proof re-wire and install the lighting, audio and cinema equipment for the new room to start taking shape.

Tim Burrow, Managing Director of The Majik House said: The clients wanted a 'turn-key' solution and once they had approved the specification they just wanted us to get on with the work, with as little disruption to the rest of the property. There was also a short time-scale for the project to be completed and, incredibly, the whole project - from initial designs through to full installation, decoration, flooring and hand over - was completed in just one month, with no disruption to the rest of the property.

This is the first time we have entered these awards. To be perfectly honest, we're not one for chasing accolades for our work, so to receive a top award was nothing short of amazing.
