“My husband and I bought the park with my brother and his wife,” says Zarina. “It’s been in the village for the last 40 plus years, but as a caravan park, and we had an idea to turn it into lodge park.”

With former caravan owners choosing to invest in a luxury lodge within the park, Zarina and Andrew’s vision has been going from strength to strength.

“A lot of people who originally owned caravans in the park now have lodges. So 30 per cent of people on site are existing owners who previously had a caravan and 70 per cent are new customers,” adds Zarina.

It’s popularity is no surprise given that there are plenty of villages to visit in the area and Cartmel itself is brimming with history, with its Priory dating back to the 12th century - a place influential in getting the king to sign the Magna Carta. Situated within the village boundary and two minutes from the village square, Cartmel Lodge Park is the perfect base for food lovers thanks to five pubs and a broad range of places to eat just a stone’s throw away.


Bespoke lodges designed from scratch

The lodges at Cartmel are finished to the highest specifications with high quality timber frame construction and come completely furnished, leaving you more time to sit back and relax on holiday, rather than worry about carting all of your wares up from home.

Once holiday goers have decided on their plot within the park, they can choose from a range of high-end lodges from various manufacturers which vary in size depending where they are on the site. Choose from one, two and three bedroom lodges available.

“Prospective purchasers can choose their own plot wherever they like and we can work with them to help design their lodge from scratch,” explains Zarina. “Alternatively, we can recommend and work with the manufacturer to customise the design and make it their own.”

Whether it’s a natural cedar wood exterior you’re hoping for, or premium CanExcel cladding, there are plenty of options to suit any budget when it comes to the design. Not stopping at the exterior appearance, lodge owners can choose from an array of bespoke interiors, leaving them with the chance to essentially design their own home.

“In terms of fixtures and fittings, you’ll also have the chance to customise these. Take lighting for instance, choose from traditional lampshades or go minimalist with LED downlighters to add ambience. Choose from an ensuite bathroom or walk in shower, pick your kitchen design, select flooring and colour schemes, or go for open plan areas and decide between bi-folding doors or French windows. The design choices are yours,” says Zarina.

It’s also a great opportunity to reimagine your outdoor living space with quality decking that can be personalised.

How it works

“Cartmel Lodge Park residents buy their lodge as a second home to holiday in during the summer months or in fact, at any other time of year,” says Andrew. “It’s nice to be able to own your own place here in Cartmel which will last a lifetime.”

When buying the plot and lodge, it’s purchased on a 125 year lease so it’s yours throughout the length of that time - great if you’re thinking of passing it down to younger generations.

“If you leave a lodge to your children there will be no onward commission or charges to be paid,” adds Zarina. “If they are looked after they can last between 60 to 75 years, as they’re all built to a high specification and to a residential standard.”
