Alistair Campbell, Former Communications Director to Tony Blair, received a warm welcome from business and sports people when he arrived in Liverpool to launch his book ‘Winners - and How They Succeed’.

One of the most influential political figures of modern times, Alastair was interviewed by Downtown Liverpool in Business Chief Executive Frank McKenna. A fascinating interview was followed by an open question and answer session about his book and his time in Westminster.

Guests at the lunch at the Hilton Hotel enjoyed a champagne reception and were given a signed copy of the book.

Alastair was not afraid to show his fun side either. He couldn’t resist playing the bagpipes following the surprise appearance of a piper in highland dress. The event, organised by Carolyn Hughes, in association with Downtown Liverpool in Business, was supported by Radio City 96.7 and raised money for Radio City’s Cash for Kids. Asa Murphy entertained the guests with some swing classics.
