A charity ball was held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa to raise money and awareness of Alzheimer’s Society.

The event was organised by Gillian Payne, a second year event management student at the University Centre at Blackburn College.

It was attended by Fran D’Arcy, north west community fundraiser for the society, who said: ‘I would like to thank Gillian for the months of hard work dedicated to her fundraising for the charity and thanks to all those who have supported her kind efforts.’ The event was also attended by actress Judy Holt, who appeared in Coronation Street as the character Lesley Kershaw in the Alzheimer’s storyline. Gillian said: ‘A lot of hard work has gone into organising the event and I am thrilled that it has been such a success.’
