A photographer friend once won a competition with a shot of spring lamb leaping up at the side of its mother. But despite the judges praise for his composition and sheer good luck, the picture was a fraud. Having banked his cheque and placed his prize on the mantlepiece he confessed that the lamb wasnt jumping it had been dropped by the farmer who was just out of shot, writes Paul Mackenzie.
No such skulduggery was needed for John Cobham to capture this stunning shot of a seagull wheeling over Arnside. He assures us that no birds were harmed in the taking this picture.
