2012 Preston Guild - Photo Special
Preston was transformed by ten days of non-stop parties and events making it a memorable Guild Photography by Paul Swarbrick and Bernie Blackburn
Prestons once-every-twenty-years party attracted almost one million extra visitors to the city. Parties were held all over the city as the Guild celebrations reached their peak in September.
The city was alive with colour, music and fun as the celebrations got underway in earnest.
Spectacular processions weaved through the city centre and Avenham and Miller parks became huge entertainment centres, hosting a massive variety of activities, concerts and art installations, from musical concerts to a giant bouncy Stonehenge.
Photographers Bernie Blackburn and Paul Swarbrick were out and about around the city to capture many of the events from the civic proclamations and mayoral speeches, to the trades, community, churches and torchlight processions.
