Fundraiser Carolyn Shepherd was crowned Rossendale Woman of the Year at a glittering awards ceremony at the Red Hall Hotel in Bury.

More than 90 of the valleys finest turned out for the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Rossendales most outstanding women and help raise 4,913 for Rossendale Hospice.

Rawtenstall resident Carolyn was given the prestigious title thanks to her tireless fundraising and work within the community.

She is often seen shaking buckets for organisations such as the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and British Heart Foundation and as well as dragging shopping trolleys from river beds, planting and weeding in her role as vice president of Civic Pride, all while working as a magistrate and holding down a full time job as head of e-commerce at Sunday Best.
