Christmas should be a magical time wherever you are but it can be especially memorable in the lovely Lake District.

Our picture editor John Cocks took his Santa hat and headed for Lake Windermere to record the fun as scores of children joined a festive cruise from Bowness and then watched a wonderful parade through Windermere village.

he Seeking Cruise has become a regular pre-Christmas event for youngsters across the north west with Father Christmas and Beatrix Potter characters on board and Eddie the Donkey waiting on the quayside to welcome them back.

Thats followed by the annual winter masked parade with Santa on his sleigh and marching bands through Windermere village, a lights switch-on and topped off by a grand firework display in Queens Park with music by Milnthorpe Steel Band.

After a day like that, you wouldnt need much rocking. Just ask John Cocks!
