MORE than 5,000 was raised at a Black and White Charity Ball held at the Marriott Hotel in Preston. As well as raising valuable funds the ball organisers also aimed to raise awareness of Battens Disease, a rare neurological disease.

Four year old Harry Millsop was diagnosed with Battens Disease in June 2008, since then he has lost his sight, speech and muscular control.

To help him and his family a trust fund, The Harry Millsop Trust - Batten of Britain has been established, with the funds from this event being split between this trust fund, the BDFA (Battens Disease Family Association) and Brian House Childrens Hospice.
