The English never fall out of love with their dogs and most enjoy nothing more than showing them off.

That was certainly the case when Hillcrest Animal Hospital welcomed families and dogs of all ages, shapes and sizes to Astley Park in Chorley for their 3rd Annual Charity Dog Show. It was a great day and the sun even managed to shine, said Ruth Tomlinson, a trainee veterinary nurse and organiser of this years show.

The contest to find the most handsome dog proved the most popular event with 65 entrants showcasing their perfectly preened pooches. Winning rosettes were also handed out in other categories from cutest puppy to waggiest tail. Brave owners even dressed up as their dogs for a look-alike competition.

Ruth was delighted with the success of the community event which raised just over 1,000 in aid of Lucys Fund, a charity set up in memory of a nurse who lost her life in a road traffic accident. its a charity very close to our hearts, said Ruth.
