How many of these local figures can you recognise?

There are hundreds of statues across Lancashire and they are there for many different reasons.

They could commemorate important moments in human history or a tribute to way of life that is no longer prevalent.

From royalty and fallen heroes to working class people and sportstars, you can find them in our town centres, seasides and green spaces.

One statue that isn’t featured here is one recent addition to Chorley. The Gorilla Glue company commissioned local artist Stephanie Matthews to create a six foot gorilla sculpture for their European headquarters.

And if you enjoyed watching Steve Coogan’ ‘Stan & Ollie film, then you could take a trip to Ulverston, Stan Laurel’s hometown, where you can take a selfie with a statue of the famous double act.
