COMMUNITY Champion Jos Walker was crowned Rossendale Woman of the Year at Rossendale Hospices annual award ceremony held at Ninos Restaurant.

Despite suffering mobility problems of her own, Jos works tirelessly to help improve the health, wealth, well-being and lives of others. Over the years she has organised garden competitions, a caf and Christmas parties to help build community spirit in Haslingden. Last year she suffered a car accident and her injuries meant she could no longer manage living in her bungalow and so moved to Edenfield.

More than 220 ladies joined Jos and the other two finalists Jacquie Dean-Magac and Mollie White for the celebrations and helped raise more than 22,000 for Rossendale Hospice.
