More than 200 guests packed the Ladies Day marquee and the actress and singer Sarah Jane Buckley was compere, introducing Coronation Streets Shobna Gulati and Jimmi Harkishin and the Lancashire Life food writer Philippa James who gave a cookery demonstration. Mother-of-two Joe Mawdsley spoke passionately about the charity she founded, The Legacy Rainbow House, and guests raised more than 1,300 for the fund which helps children with brain injuries, disabilities and life-limiting conditions.

Southport department store, Broadbents & Boothroyds, based in the Wayfarers Arcade, staged a fashion show displaying some of the new seasons top designs.

Token male at the event, Lancashire Life editor Roger Borrell, told guests: As the county magazine of Lancashire and the market leading publication its our aim to promote Lancashire as a brilliant place to work, live and play.
