Shobna Gulati hosted Stanley House Hotel's popular Ladies Who Lunch event. which raised more than £1,000 for Lancashire charity, Miles of Smiles
Coronation Street star, Shobna Gulati, who is best known for playing Sunita - and Anita on Victoria Woods Dinnerladies - entertained 150 of Lancashire ladies who lunched at the hotel in Mellor.
Guests browsed stalls from some of Lancashires finest independent retailers including floral displays from The Flower Shop, luxury home accessories from Finishing Touches and a range of jewellery, fashion and accessories from the likes of Pashmina Ladies and The Dressing Room.
The ladies only luncheon consisted of a two-course summer menu devised by Stanley House Hotel executive head chef, Steve Williams. Baked salmon en croute with baby new potatoes, wilted greens and dill butter, was followed by a dessert of iced lemon parfait, coffee and treats.
A charity raffle saw Elizabeth Hall of Lancashire based chartered accountants and business advisors Moore and Smalley scoop the top prize of two first class Virgin Train tickets to any UK destination.
Stanley Houses sales and marketing manager, Wendy Hope, said: Shobna was a very warm host for the second of our 2012 Ladies who Lunch events. The guests were regaled with tales from Shobnas showbiz career, along with some gossip from her life The Street.
We used the event as an opportunity to give the ladies a sneak peek of what can be expected when our world-class spa opens in August. Everyone took home a spa goody bag complete with brochure and exclusive discount voucher for the launch.
Shobna added: Stanley House is a beautiful hotel - I was blown away by the hidden gem as I drove up to the top of the hill. The ladies I lunched with were extremely welcoming and it was fantastic to come together and raise money for a very worthy cause.
Im in the midst of a very exciting storyline at the minute, which means a gruelling work schedule. I think Ill be checking back in at Stanley House once the spa opens to enjoy some much needed relaxation in the tranquil surroundings.
Last year, Stanley House raised over 5,000 for Miles of Smiles, with celebrity guests including broadcast legend Anne Diamond, TV chef and Ladette to Lady mentor Rosemary Shrager, and former MP and Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Edwina Currie helping to make previous events a sell out.
The next Ladies who Lunch event will take place at Stanley House Hotel on Thursday, September 13 when Emmerdale actress and Dancing on Ice 2010 winner - Hayley Tamaddon (Delilah Dingle) will be the star guest.
