THE British Red Cross held a fundraising dinner at The Midland Hotel in Manchester in honour of Kim Phuc, the Vietnamese-Canadian best known as the child subject of a Pulitzer prize-winning photograph taken during the Vietnam War in 1972. She was pictured as she ran down the road, her skin burning from a napalm attack on her village. The photo changed the way people viewed the Vietnam war and became one of the most iconic images of all time. Kim had the audience at the Midland in tears as she told her compelling and inspirational story and received a standing ovation from the guests.
