Stars from the world of sport and entertainment staged a curry night at the Elephant in Euxton to help raise funds for research into an illness suffered by the son of a Lancashire rugby league player.

The Joining Jack charity has been set up by former Wigan Warriors player Andy Johnson and his wife Alex. They recently received the devastating news that their four-year-old son Jack has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an incurable muscle-wasting disease.

Guests at the event, including Sir Bradley Wiggins and his wife Cath, showed their support for a cycling team whose members will be tackling a stage of the Tour de France to raise money for the charity, which uses the inter-locking forefingers symbol of JJ.
