Judging is about to start in the search for the region’s inspiring businesswomen

The Enterprise Vision Awards, supported by Lancashire Life, is now approaching its dramatic finale.
The categories in the 2014 competition have closed for entries and nominations, so now the tough task of selecting the finalists and overall winners has begun.
This year has seen an unprecedented number of entries from companies across the region and, following an intensive review, a list of category finalists is now set to be carefully collated.
Those women who make the final will then be invited to make a presentation in front of the panel of judges, selected from category sponsors and other key business people from across the north west. This stage will provide the opportunity for the finalists to share their passion and bring their business to life.
EVAs founder Coral Horn said: ‘One key point of difference we have to other business awards is that our judging process is incredibly nurturing and supportive. We aren’t about scrutinising figures to the nth degree, but about encouraging women to share and be proud of their business stories.
‘The EVAs are often the first set of awards that our entrants have put themselves forward for but, year on year, the strength of the entries grows which makes the task of selecting an overall winner incredibly tough, and is why we have the element of public vote.’
Each judge will mark and submit a score however the final decision is decided by incorporating an element of public vote. This encourages the finalists to get out there and shout about the fact they have made it to the final, encouraging them to share this achievement with the business community.
Heather Waters, of headline sponsors NatWest, said: ‘This is the second year we have been involved with the EVAs and last year judging the “inspirational” category was incredibly hard. Comparing two very different businesses with equally amazing stories and trying to find a winner from the two was nigh on impossible.’

The winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on September 26.
