Wellingtons, macs and umbrellas were the order of the day but the weather didnt spoil the fun at Saddleworth Show. In fact, it added to it - especially for the ducks and the hardy lot who took part in the Wharmton Dash fell race.

Now a 30-year-old tradition, the show featured Welsh Axemen, BMX bikers and birds of prey performing alongside the old favourites, such as the donkey derby and the duck race. The Quack Pack Duck herding team, with Glen the sheepdog, gave guests a giggle and were certainly a favourite among spectators.

David Wright, of Oldham Metro club, chaired the event this year in association with Saddleworth Rotary Club. We would like to thank everyone who sponsored and helped out and, of course, the show-goers who turned up to support us, he told Lancashire Life.
