The Spa at Stanley House has revealed a new range of Pilates equipment in its state-of the-art studio including the Cardilac Trapeze table, used by celebrities and a host of professional Pilates instructors.

The trapeze equipment uses leg and arm springs, along with loops to hang from and a push-through bar for stretching. The apparatus can be used by beginners for stretching techniques or by exercise enthusiasts for advanced acrobatics.

The Pilates studio at Stanley House adopts the STOTT PILATES method, a contemporary approach to the original exercise pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. A team of specially trained instructors run a variety of Mat, Equipment and mixed Pilates classes at the studio, based in the Spa building, to suit all ages and abilities.

Nick Cunningham at STOTT PILATES said “The purpose-built Pilates studio at Stanley House Hotel and Spa uses the latest and best equipment available, perfectly complementing its philosophy in the provision of health and well-being for its guests.”

The Mat Pilate classes available at the Pilates studio at Stanley House, incorporate up to 50 exercises with the body providing its own resistance to work against gravity - developing strength, flexibility, endurance and posture. The Equipment Pilates classes, also run at the studio, are traditionally practiced on a table called the reformer, using springs and pulleys for resistance.

Janine Bradley, spa manager at Stanley House Hotel and Spa, said “Pilates is fast becoming one of the most popular forms of exercise in the UK, not only does it develop strength and flexibility, it also provides inner calm and agility.

“We are proud to partner with STOTT PILATES as it is globally recognised as being the safest and most effective method available for this form of exercise. Whatever your focus or ability, Pilates promises a noticeable difference in health, fitness and wellbeing if practiced regularly.”
